What is in the pack

Gingham is one of the most useful patterns in a paper stash: from a distance it reads as a colour, up close as a pattern. This set gives it in twelve pastels with the same check size on every sheet, so the papers mix freely. The patterns are seamless.

The files are 12 × 12 inch JPGs at 300 DPI. The designer also suggests them for shirts, mugs, pillows and bags.

Try a paper on a tag, an envelope, a pocket and a card

Ideas for using these papers

  • Baby and spring pages. Pastel checks suit both without a themed print.
  • Recipe cards and picnic pages. Gingham is the tablecloth pattern, so it belongs next to food.
  • Card mats. A gingham layer between the card and the picture adds a border in one cut.
  • Tags. Small checks keep their pattern even on a narrow tag.
  • Envelope liners. Match the liner to the colour of the card.

Colour palette of the pack

The colours are sampled from the preview images of the designer. Screens and printers show them a little differently, so treat the codes as a starting point for matching cardstock, ink or digital elements.

How a 12 × 12 inch sheet prints at home

Paper“Fit to page”100% (“Actual size”)
LetterThe whole sheet at 67%: 8 × 8 inAn 8 × 10 1/2 in piece of the pattern at full scale

One sheet printed on Letter paper at 100% is enough for:

Each link opens the Template Maker with that size ready to print on the back of the sheet.

Printing tips

  1. Open the file in any image viewer or drop it onto a blank page in a text editor, then choose Print.
  2. Choose “Fit to page” for a whole small sheet, or 100% to keep the pattern at its full scale.
  3. Pick matte paper or light cardstock and select the same paper type in the printer settings.
  4. Set print quality to “Best” or “High” and print one test page before you print the set.

Colours may look a little different on paper than on screen: that depends on the printer and the paper.
