Christmas Scrapbook Layouts with Photos: 6 Pages to Copy

A Christmas page works when the photo is allowed to be the loudest thing on it. The paper behind it should say December without shouting, and the stickers should answer the photo: if the picture is of baking, the stickers are cookies and a rolling pin.

Below are six Christmas scrapbook layouts with photos, from a snowman in the yard to a grandmother and a rolling pin. Each one lists the printables it is made from, so you can print the same sheets at home. Two more layouts without a photo are at the end for pages you want to fill later.

Quick answer: a Christmas scrapbook layout with a photo needs one patterned paper, one photo glued on a slightly larger mat of plain card, one big sticker beside it and two to four small ones. Add a short handwritten line on a cream circle or strip. The six layouts below follow exactly this plan in six different colour schemes.

The formula behind every layout

  1. Pick the paper by the mood of the photo. Red and green plaid for a cosy evening, blue checks for outdoor snow, pink dots for baking, green gingham for a walk in the woods.
  2. Mat the photo. Glue it on a piece of plain card that is a little larger on every side, in one colour taken from the paper.
  3. Place one large sticker next to the photo, not on it. It should be the second thing the eye finds.
  4. Group two to four small stickers in one or two corners and leave some of the pattern empty.
  5. Write a few words by hand on a plain circle or strip: the occasion, the place or the year.

Every sticker in these layouts has a simple outline with a white border, so the whole page can be cut with ordinary scissors. No cutting machine is needed.

Christmas layouts with one photo

1. The first snow of the year

Christmas scrapbook layout on blue gingham paper with flowers, a photo of three children hugging a snowman, a large arctic fox sticker, a snowy owl, a wreath with orange slices, wrapped gifts, a lantern and a log cabin, and the words snow day smiles
Layout mock-up. The picture in the frame is a stand-in for your own photo.

A loud, happy photo of children outdoors needs very little around it. A red mat sets the picture apart from the soft blue check, the label overlaps its corner, and the arctic fox, the owl and the wreath gather below and beside it, so the colours of the winter coats stay in front.

2. An evening in the cabin

Christmas scrapbook layout on red and green plaid paper with a photo of an older couple holding mugs on a cabin porch, a Christmas tree, mittens, a cinnamon bun and a red cottage with a blue Nordic border and the words warm winter memories
Layout mock-up. The picture in the frame is a stand-in for your own photo.

For a page about grandparents or a quiet December evening. The plaid is busy, so the photo sits on a dark green mat, the label overlaps its corner, the decorated tree stands at the lower left and the small stickers gather on the right above the Nordic border.

3. A winter walk

Christmas scrapbook layout on green gingham paper with a photo of an older couple and a golden retriever walking in a snowy forest, a large decorated Christmas tree with Santa, a sleeping deer and fawn, mushrooms, a lantern, a bluebird, a candle, cinnamon sticks and a pinecone, and the words winter walk
Layout mock-up. The picture in the frame is a stand-in for your own photo.

Green gingham is a quieter Christmas than red. A red mat under the photo brings the season back, and the big tree with Santa sits at the lower right to balance the photo at the upper left. The deer and the pinecone overlap the edge of the photo, and the small woodland stickers gather beside the tree and match the snowy forest in the picture.

4. Trimming the tree

Christmas scrapbook layout on red and green plaid paper with a photo of a mother, father and daughter hanging an ornament on a Christmas tree, a large folk art star Santa, a nutcracker, a wreath with a red bow, candles, gifts and a Santa head, and the words trim the tree
Layout mock-up. The picture in the frame is a stand-in for your own photo.

A family photo at the tree is the classic Christmas page. Here the photo sits at the upper left with a bow on its corner, a cream label overlaps it at the top right, and the star Santa, the nutcracker and a group of candles, gifts and a Santa head fill the lower half.

5. Sweet baking in pink

Christmas scrapbook layout on pink polka dot paper with a photo of a mother and daughter icing cookies, a large pastel candy cottage sticker, cookies with a cup, a gingerbread man and a gift, and the words sweet winter wishes
Layout mock-up. The picture in the frame is a stand-in for your own photo.

Pink dots and a candy-coloured cottage turn baking day into a page that looks like a sweet. The cottage is the largest piece and sits under the photo, with a cream oval beside the photo for the title.

6. Baking with grandma

Layout mock-up. The picture in the frame is a stand-in for your own photo.

When one photo cannot tell the whole afternoon, use two: a wide one of the people and a smaller close-up of the hands or the tray. Overlap the small photo on the corner of the big one, as on this page, so they read as a pair, then put the gingerbread house below them.

Two layouts without a photo

Not every Christmas page has a photo yet. These two put a big printed piece where the photo would go. Later you can glue a picture over it, or leave the page as it is.

7. Merry and bright on red gingham

Layout mock-up: gingham paper, a large bow tag and holly labels arranged as one page.

Red gingham reads as Christmas from across the room. One large gift tag in the middle carries the greeting, and a vintage Santa tag leans behind it. A good opening page for the album.

8. A quiet winter page for after the holidays

Winter scrapbook layout on pale blue gingham floral paper with a large white arctic fox cub, a pine tree with a lantern, a white owl, a log cabin and pine cones, and a strip that says quiet winter days
Layout mock-up: blue gingham paper, one arctic fox and woodland cut-outs arranged as one page.

Pale blue, cream and one white animal. This page is about winter, not about Christmas, so it stays useful until March. Swap the fox for a photo cut to the same size and the forest pieces frame it in the same way.

Tips for photos on Christmas pages

  • Print the photo at about the size of the frame in the layout and trim a thin white edge around it; a white edge reads as a print.
  • Warm, evening light fits plaid and gingham best. For a bright snowy photo choose the blue gingham or snowflake papers.
  • If the photo has people in dark coats, put it on a light mat; if it is bright, a deep green or red mat gives it weight.
  • Keep the handwriting short. A date and three words are enough, and a cream circle or strip keeps it readable on a busy pattern.
  • Print one test page before the whole set. Home inkjet prints can smudge when wet, so use a glue stick or double-sided tape.

Questions about Christmas scrapbook layouts

How many photos should a Christmas scrapbook page have?

One or two. One photo gives you room for a big sticker, and two photos work when one is a close-up of the same moment, like the hands and the tray. A third photo makes the page crowded.

What size are Christmas scrapbook layouts?

The layouts above are portrait pages with a ratio of 2:3. Print the papers at full size and trim them to your album page. The 12 × 12 inch papers can also be printed smaller, with “Fit to page”.

Do I need a cutting machine for the stickers?

No. Every sticker in these layouts has a simple outline with a white border, so ordinary scissors are enough.

What if I have no Christmas photos yet?

Start with the two layouts at the end of this page. A large tag or a single animal in the middle makes a finished page that you can add a photo to later.
